Event Summary

Join azcentral.com, The Arizona Republic and Alliance Bank of Arizona as we take over the First Amendment Forum at ASU's Cronkite School with the stories behind the stories from Arizona-based journalists.

The night will also commemorate the 40th anniversary of the murder of Republic journalist Don Bolles, who died in a car bombing at what was then the Hotel Clarendon in Phoenix.

The night will feature stories about Bolles' work, life and death, as well as ones about the continued relevance of Arizona-based investigative and watchdog journalism.

This is event is free with registration.

If you choose to make the suggested $12 donation, all of that money will go to Investigative Reporters & Editors.

IRE is a journalism leadership and training organization which was founded as a direct result of Bolles’ death.

 

LOCATION: The First Amendment Forum is on the 2nd floor of the ASU Cronkite School building at 1st and Taylor streets. 

PARKING: Parking is free at the Republic Media garage at 2nd and Taylor streets.

Co-emcee: Ed Montini, Republic columnist, who will be in conversation about investigative journalism with Cherrill Crosby, Republic news director.

  • Our nights typically sell out. 
  • A limited number of tickets may be offered for purchase at the door.

  • Event check-in starts at 6 p.m. Stories begin promptly at 7 p.m.
  • Seating at the event is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.  
  • Proceeds from this event will be used to support Arizona Republic/azcentral journalism training and education programs.
  • We are unable to offer refunds on any purchased ticket.
