SOLD OUT Between the Vines with Richard Ruelas

Join azcentral and Republic reporter Richard Ruelas and the Arizona Vignerons Alliance for a night celebrating the state’s wine industry at The Phoenician's Estrella Theatre.

Between the Vines is a wine tasting event AND a variety show – with music, storytelling, a tiny how-to talk, and visual art – all built around Ruelas’ writing about the state's wines and the people who make them. We invite you to an adventurous night of entertainment and insight.

There will also be wine sampling and (pretty fabulous) passed appetizers. You get six 1-ounce pours with the purchase of your ticket.

The night's emcee is Republic reporter Garrett Mitchell. 

Expect: 

1. A tiny how-to talk from J&G Steakhouse's Patrick Norton on ordering wine without feeling awkward.

2. The announcement of the first wines to earn certification by the Arizona Vignerons Alliance and a conversation about what this honor means and how it can help you find the best Arizona wines. You’ll hear from:

• Kelly Bostock, Arizona Vignerons Alliance president, from Dos Cabezas WineWorks
• Sarah Hammelman, Arizona Vignerons Alliance vice-president, from Sand-Reckoner Vineyards
• Kent Callaghan, from Callaghan Vineyards.
• Maynard James Keenan, from Caduceus Cellars

3. A visuals-filled art talk from Chateau Tumbleweed in-house artist Kris Pothier about her distinctively Arizonan label designs.

4. An interview with James Callahan of Rune Wines, who will talk about bootstrapping a winery in Sonoita while living in an Airstream trailer.

5. Live music from Sassy and the Sneak Attack, regulars at Kazimirz World Wine Bar.

6. A chance to drink wine, enjoy inventive foods and talk to all these people, and learn more about their work.

What to Expect:

• The night will open in the Estrella Theatre Foyer, as Rune, Chateau Tumbleweed and AVA-certified wines are poured and appetizers are passed.
• After an hour of mingling and sampling, guests will join us in the 500-seat Estrella Theatre for a variety show with key figures in the state’s wine scene. 
• Ticket covers admission, wine samples, passed appetizers and entrance to the show.
• No need to come early! Sampling starts at 6 p.m., and the show will start at 7 p.m.
• PARKING is free. See map above. VALET is $5.
