Gertrude's, Phoenix, AZ
Countless Valley chefs want to share special dishes, but can’t because they fear they won’t find an audience. Republic and azcentral.com critic Dominic Armato wants to bring those chefs and that audience together.
The Daring Dining dinner series gives talented chefs the opportunity to showcase the dishes they’ve always wanted to share with the public, but couldn’t due to practical reasons.
Friday, April 1: Taylor-ed French
Matthew Taylor, chef of Gertrude’s at the Desert Botanical Garden
Taylor will offer a four-course tasting menu of French fare with hints of his native Canada and whispers of his Indian heritage, including dishes like venison and foie gras terrine with Saskatoon berry mustard, and saffron braised monkfish with smoked eggplant and tomato kasundi.
What to Expect:
Armato will host the dinner on the patio.
Armato and Taylor will participate in a Q&A about the dishes, their provenance and what makes them so distinct.
Tickets include four courses, tax and tip. Alcoholic beverages are additional.
No need to come early. Your ticket serves as your reservation. Food service will start at 7 p.m.
Can't Make It?
Taylor’s special menu will be in place until April 30.
Stop by Gertrude’s at any point during the month and try some of the dishes.
In June, Armato will work with the wildly creative Asian fare of chef Bob Tam, from Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour, with more events to come later in the year.
